Suddenly, Stella awakens unconscious in a basement cell, later joined by Christine, a woman her age. As they share their pasts, Christine suspects Stella’s hedonistic choices led to their captivity.

The film opens with a haunting memory from Carole’s childhood, where she plays hide and seek with her friend Laura and discovers Laura dead in a garage, apparently killed by a dog. The same dog then lunges at Carole, forcing her to take shelter inside a car. This chilling echo of the past frames the story as Carole, along with fellow doctors Samir and Mathias, volunteers in a region that used to be part of Yugoslavia.
