Spoilers ahead

Martha, Debbie Doebereiner plays a middle-aged, solitary woman who works at a doll factory in a town hugged by the Ohio River. She lives a quiet, demanding life, caring for her elderly, disabled father and driving her younger co-worker, Kyle, to and from work each day. The factory’s rhythm becomes the frame of her world, and her days blend into a careful routine: long drives, small chats kept to a minimum, and a constant, almost motherly watch over Kyle. Martha’s social circle is practically non-existent, and she clings to the one person who is near enough to become a substitute for companionship—Kyle.
