Yaron Zilberman (born October 2, 1966 in Haifa, Israel) is an Israeli‑American filmmaker whose work traverses documentary and narrative cinema, earning acclaim for its emotional depth and meticulous craftsmanship. After growing up in a culturally rich environment, Zilberman pursued a technical education at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he honed analytical skills that later informed his precise storytelling approach. His early fascination with music and history later manifested in his debut feature documentary Watermarks (2004), a poignant recounting of the Hakoah Vienna women swimmers who survived the Holocaust and reconvened decades later; the film garnered nine festival awards and established Zilberman as a director capable of blending archival material with intimate human narratives. A Late Quartet (2012) marked his transition to narrative feature filmmaking. Co‑written, directed, and produced by Zilberman, the film intertwines the disintegration of a world‑renowned string quartet with Beethoven’s Opus 131, using the music as a structural and emotional backbone.
