Vincent Patar

Vincent Patar, born September 2, 1965, is an esteemed Belgian film director and screenwriter whose work has left a distinctive mark on the world of animation. Patar made international headlines in 2009 with his animated film, A Town Called Panic, co-written and co-directed with Stéphane Aubier. The film, renowned for its unique storytelling and animation style, premiered at the prestigious 2009 Cannes Film Festival. Notably, it was the first stop-motion film to be screened at the festival, marking a significant milestone in the history of animated cinema. Patar's impact did not stop there. In 2013, he co-directed Ernest & Celestine with Aubier and Benjamin Renner, which received widespread critical acclaim. The film was not only well-received by audiences but also praised by critics and the film industry. It garnered three Magritte Awards, including Best Film and Best Director for Patar and Aubier. Further cementing its success, Ernest & Celestine also received a nomination at the 86th Academy Awards in the category of Best Animated Feature.
