Mark Jonathan Harris

Mark Jonathan Harris, born October 28, 1941, is a distinguished American documentary filmmaker, writer, and educator celebrated for his impressive contributions to the documentary genre. He has creatively left his mark in the cinematic world with a coveted record of three Academy Awards and a wide array of accolades garnered over his extensive career. Beyond his remarkable filmmaking, Harris is also renowned for his academic endeavours, having served as a Distinguished Professor at the USC School of Cinematic Arts from 1983 to his retirement in 2023. His passion for storytelling also extends to literary arts with five acclaimed children's novels and a collection of short stories to his name. His career as a filmmaker commenced in the late 1960s, an exciting journey which began with the acclaimed Huelga! (1967), and was followed up by multiple award-winning works, including The Long Way Home (1997) and Into the Arms of Strangers: Stories of the Kindertransport (2000).
