David Neil Twohy, also known as David Twohy (/ˈtuːiː/ TOO-ee), born October 18, 1955, is a laudable American film director and screenwriter. He has left his distinct imprints on the science fiction-action films genre, his most recognized works being Vin Diesel's The Chronicles of Riddick series. Twohy was born and nurtured in Los Angeles County, California, imprinting a Californian ethos on his identity and work. His formative years were spent at Palos Verdes High School and he later pursued higher studies at California State University, Long Beach, where he graduated with a degree in radio/television/film. His most notable filmmaking credits not only include writing The Fugitive, Waterworld, and GI Jane, but he also displays prowess as a director for The Arrival and most entries in the Chronicles of Riddick franchise. He even made a cameo appearance in Below as the British captain of the rescue ship. The fourth installment of The Chronicles of Riddick, titled 'Riddick: Furya,' was announced in February 2023 with Twohy credited as the writer of the script and the director of the film.
