Concert Film

Year dedicated to Mikis Theodorakis Step into the soul of Greece with the Athens State Orchestra as it celebrates the 100‑year anniversary of the legendary composer Mikis Theodorakis. Conductor Anastasios Symeonidis leads the orchestra with mezzo‑soprano Margarita Syngeniotou delivering soaring vocals, while the ensemble brings to life Theodorakis’s most celebrated works. The programme features the moving Mauthausen song cycle — a stirring convergence of Iakovos Kambanellis’s poetry and Giannis Sabrovalakis’s orchestration, a tribute to Holocaust victims that reverberates with raw emotion. It is followed by the emblematic Suite from Zorba the Greek, orchestrated by Dimitris Michas, a vibrant, rhythm‑powered celebration of the Greek spirit and the relentless vigor of life. This concert film captures the atmosphere of the tribute concerts hosted by the Prefecture of Crete in Chania and Heraklion, as well as the Athens State Orchestra’s participation in the 130‑year celebrations of the Municipal Theatre of Piraeus, all under the auspices of the Greek Ministry of Culture. Relive the passion, honor, and cultural heritage of Greece in every note.
