Experience the lyrical power of Tan Dun’s “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon,” the whimsical notes of Joe Hisaishi’s “Howl’s Moving Castle” and “Castle in the Sky,” and the tender orchestration of Dario Marinelli’s “Kubo and the Two Strings.” Special highlight: the orchestra performs Soon Hee Newbold’s newly written Hangul piece, originally commissioned for Gustav Dudamel’s farewell with the L.A. Philharmonic. This is only the second public performance of this vibrant composition, made possible with Newbold’s gracious permission.
