Unhallowed Eve invites you to experience a spellbinding night of music and storytelling, where the Plano Symphony Orchestra, guided by the emotionally charged baton of Mélisse Brunet, brings to life a program that spans the fantastical worlds of Danny Elfman, the haunting reverie of Gabriela L. Frank, the vivid palette of Hector Berlioz, the evocative world‑building of Tan Dun, and the passionate rhythms of Silvestre Revueltas. Brunet—native of Paris with a vibrant trans‑Atlantic career, and one of the five maestros featured in Netflix’s acclaimed documentary Maestra—directs the Lexington and Northeastern Pennsylvania Philharmonics with a fervor noted by critics as “uncommon emotional intensity.” Joining her on stage is principal bassist Rachel Martin, who has already graced the boards of Baltimore, Detroit, Minnesota, Nashville, Pittsburgh, Seattle, and St. Louis symphonies, and who debuted with the Lexington Philharmonic in late 2023. From Elfman’s contemporary “Suite from The Nightmare Before Christmas,” to the moving “Requiem for a Magical America – El Día de los Muertos,” from Berlioz’s “Symphonie fantastique” (Movements 4 & 5), to Tan Dun’s dynamic “Contrabass Concerto: Wolf Totem,” and concluding with Revueltas’s spirited “Noche de Encantamiento,” the film promises a cinematic journey through sound that lingers long after the final note.
