Ensemble MidtVest, accompanied by pianist Dragos Cantea, takes the stage to explore the most beautiful moments of music that have defined cinema's emotional core—starting with Marin Marais’s lively “Les Folies d’Espagne” and moving through the haunting “Gabriel’s Oboe” by Ennio Morricone. The program also features Maurice Ravel’s lush trio for violin, cello, and piano, György Kurtág’s introspective “Shadow” for double bass (from “Signs, Games and Messages”), and a majestic Nino Rota nonet for string quartet and wind quintet, honoring a composer famed for his film themes yet celebrated here for his classical brilliance.
