This exhilarating program is carried forward by Frédéric Devreese’s timeless “Overture for large orchestra (1976)”, a soulful anthem that ushers soloists into the spotlight with elegance and solemnity. Under the baton of Yves Segers, the Big Music Band delivers a performance steeped in tradition and renewed vitality. The set then takes a playful, ironic turn with Dirk Brossé’s 2021 masterpiece “Für Elise @ the movies”, a nine‑part homage to Beethoven that delights with mini‑soundtracks inspired by iconic films and cinematic quotes.
