Season Opening invites you to experience the very heart of the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra’s new season, a celebration of Romantic grandeur, contemporary brilliance, and cinematic allure—all under the baton of chief conductor Ryan Bancroft. From the very first notes, the concert sparkles with Erich Wolfgang Korngold’s lyrical Violin Concerto, showcasing internationally acclaimed soloist Vilde Frang and the vivid colours of Hollywood’s golden age. The agenda then turns to the awe‑inspiring symphonic canon with Jean Sibelius’s monumental Symphony No. 5, whose stirring final movement echoes the composer’s own diary entry titled “One of the greatest experiences of my life!” The program also features Jennifer Higdon’s evocative “Blue Cathedral,” a walk through cinematic soundscapes, and Anders Hillborg’s dreamlike “…lontana in sonno…” which adds a heartfelt spiritual dimension.
