**Psycho – Live Film Concert at BIFF 2025** On Monday, November 10, 2025, the Braunschweig International Film Festival (BIFF) opens its 39th edition in spectacular style at the Volkswagen Halle Braunschweig. Join us for an unforgettable night featuring Alfred Hitchcock’s legendary 1960 psychological thriller *Psycho*, accompanied by a breathtaking live performance of Bernard Herrmann’s iconic score from the Braunschweig State Orchestra. For over two decades, the partnership between BIFF and the State Orchestra has delivered cinematic milestones. Under the baton of conductor Ernst van Tiel, the orchestra will perform Herrmann’s entirely string‑orchestrated masterpiece, whose razor‑sharp, dissonant motifs elevate the film’s tension to new heights—bringing the infamous shower scene and its screeching strings right to the audience’s ears. The opening concert is brought to you by the Braunschweig State Theater, with co‑main sponsorship from BS|ENERGY and support from the Braunschweig Cultural Heritage Foundation. “The film festival and BS|ENERGY share a long, shared history – after our collaboration last year, we are delighted to be involved again as co‑main sponsor this year,” says Jens‑Uwe Freitag, CEO of BS|ENERGY. Festival co‑director Karina Gauerhof invites all Braunschweig residents aged 12 and over: “I’m incredibly excited about this unique performance of Bernard Herrmann’s music at BIFF’s opening,” she says. Verena Rast, Orchestra Director, adds that the single‑string arrangement not only saved budget but also “intensifies the film’s psychological tension, making each moment pulse with dread.” Don’t miss this rare convergence of cinematic history, live orchestral mastery, and festival celebration. Secure your tickets now and experience *Psycho* like never before—an event where the silver screen meets the living, breathing score of one of film’s greatest thrillers.
