The film captures Maki Namekawa and renowned organist James McVinnie as they deliver the revealing recital that followed their sold‑out Paris Philharmonie concert and followed Maki’s celebrated NCH performance of Glass’s The Piano Etudes. In this powerful programme, the concert’s highlights include the driving, darkly romantic organ solo “Dance No. 4”, the striking “Piano Étude No. 11” and “Piano Étude No. 20”, Mishima’s spellbinding “Award Montage” (the soundtrack to Paul Schrader’s 1985 film), and the twin “companion pieces” “Distant Figure” and “Mad Rush,” each an intimate and cosmic statement in Glass’s evolving canon.
