Philharmonic Day

On Saturday, April 25, the Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra opens its doors to music lovers for a vibrant Philharmonic Day at Tampere Hall. From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., the free event—titled “Energy from Music”—offers families an immersive journey into the world of orchestral art. Inspired by the Royal Stockholm Orchestra’s Open Day, attendees can wander backstage, meet the musicians, examine instruments up close and join house tours that reveal the inner workings of the orchestra’s daily life. The interactive audition simulator places you directly in the director’s chair, while a wheel of fortune and exclusive ticket offers add extra excitement. Children of all ages will delight in the Uulu Cultural Cooperative’s music workshop, full of hands‑on activities. The highlight arrives at 1 p.m. in the Great Hall, where Chief Conductor Matthew Halls leads a 45‑minute concert featuring the first movement of Dvořák’s New World Symphony, John Adams’ Chairman Dances, Jean Sibelius’ Valse Triste, and John Williams’ iconic E.T. Flight Theme. All free, this mini‑concert delivers a powerful, family‑friendly celebration of sound. Join us for a day that turns music into a feast for the senses.
