The program opens with the National Orchestra’s “National Style,” featuring Zhao Jiping’s masterful compositions, followed by the serene “Qingqing Thoughts,” brought to life by Li Bo’s exquisite Zen music. The band “Penna” collaborates with Su Xiao for the spirited “Tone,” adding a vibrant layer to the opening trio. After an engaging intermission, the orchestra launches into the first movement of “Colorful Harmony,” crafted by Zhang Chaoqu. The erhu accompanied by the band presents Tan Dun’s evocative “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon,” while a guzheng solo with the band set the stage for “Looking at Hometown,” a heartfelt arrangement by Wang Yat‑sen Qu and Yufan.
