Moon River – an unforgettable night of swing, jazz, and river‑inspired music brought to life by the Brandenburgisches Staatsorchester Frankfurt, the BSOF. Under the baton of seasoned conductor Florian Ludwig, the orchestra swirls around an intimate program crafted by jazz virtuoso Max Doehlemann and performed by his Monkfish Trio, featuring piano (Sebastian Strahl), bass (Stefan Große Boymann), and drums (Matthias Buchheim). At the heart of the evening stands vocalist Sophie Grobler, whose Weimar‑trained jazz voice, honed through work with Bobby McFerrin and Clueso, sings classics such as “Moon River” and “Fly Me to the Moon.” The set pays homage to swing legends Miles Davis, Thelonious Monk, and Dave Brubeck, opening with “So What,” “Stella by Starlight,” the Gershwin‑Gogol “I Got Rhythm” Variations, and more. New to the program is Max Doehlemann’s world premiere “Symphony 1 – Beyond Jazz,” a commissioned work that blurs the line between jazz and orchestral art for an orchestra rooted in the banks of the Oder. Experience the vibrant dialogue between swing classics and contemporary creativity in a cinematic concert experience that embraces the night and the river that inspire it.
