La Strada

Experience the vibrancy of Italian modernism with the St. Gallen Symphony Orchestra, led by chief conductor Pietro Rizzo, in this cinematic recording of the highly acclaimed “La Strada” concert. The program, the orchestra’s second Tonhalle concert under Rizzo’s baton, is a “molto italiano” journey through some of the most evocative 20th‑century works. It opens with Ottorino Respighi’s **Trittico Botticelliano**, where he masterfully transforms three of Sandro Botticelli’s paintings into musical color. The set is continued by Ferruccio Busoni’s **Berceuse élégiaque**, a warmly introspective lullaby that was once premiered by Gustav Mahler in New York in 1911.
