Independence Eve: A Free Concert Presented by CU Anschutz invites you to celebrate America’s 250th anniversary and Colorado’s 150th milestone with a soaring, patriotic showcase at the Buell Theatre this July. The Colorado Symphony Orchestra will light up the stage under the baton of conductor Scott Terrell, while Principal Trumpet Justin Bartels takes the spotlight as soloist. This community event, generously sponsored by CU Anschutz, is free to all guests. Enjoy a rousing program that blends soaring U.S. classics with beloved orchestral treasures: the rousing “Star-Spangled Banner” by John Stafford Smith; the iconic “March” (1941) from John Williams; the rousing “The Cowboys: Overture” by John Williams; George Gershwin’s stirring selections from *Porgy and Bess*; Irving Berlin’s “God Bless America” (arranged by Ringwald) leading into Intermission; Lowden’s triumphant “Armed Forces Salute”; John Williams’ stirring “Music From Lincoln” featuring “The People’s House” and “With Malice Toward None”; the exuberant “Chicago Medley” by John Kander; Meredith Willson’s “Seventy-Six Trombones” (arranged by Anderson) from *The Music Man*; and the climactic “1812 Overture, Op. 29” by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky.
