Hearts and Heroes is the South Carolina Philharmonic’s exhilarating kickoff to 2026—an unforgettable concert that blends love, courage, and history while celebrating America’s 250th anniversary just before Valentine’s Day weekend. The music then transitions to the beloved themes of Max Steiner’s *Casablanca*, where the romantic drama of World War II fills the air. The half concludes on a high note with a stunning solo from our very own—one of the winners of the Summerville Orchestra Concerto Competition—bringing the program to a dazzling finish. In the second half, the audience is transported to a dreamlike realm by Claude Debussy’s hypnotic *The Afternoon of a Faun*.
