Guest pianist Martin James Baxter accompanies the orchestra, delivering an exuberant performance of Rachmaninoff’s “Rhapsody on a Theme by Paganini” – the virtuosic 24 variations pulsing with the same daring energy as Paganini’s original theme. The first half invites you into a whirlwind of heroic musical drama. Then the program swells into a tour de force of cinema scores that bring beloved heroes to life on the stage: the electrifying “Superman Returns” suite by John Williams and John Ottman, Rupert Gregson‑Williams’ “Wonder Woman” suite, the anthemic “Chariots of Fire” theme by Vangelis, Vangelis’ “Alexander Titans” ballad, Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard’s “Batman: The Dark Knight” suite, and Alan Silvestri’s soaring “Captain America” medley. Throughout, the Singakademie Frankfurt (Oder) adds vocal colors that deepen the heroic narrative.
