Each season since 2009, the auditorium of Lyon has become a pilgrimage for film and music lovers, and this October the magic returns with two unforgettable screenings, each brought to life by orchestral grandeur. The enormous screen, the thunderous live scores, and the rare gems unearthed by the Lumière Institute weave a sensory tapestry that makes every show extraordinary. The Lyon National Orchestra will deliver an exuberant live soundtrack for the first feature, while the immense pipe organ concealed behind the stage curtain will animate the second, under the hands of Italy’s prodigious young organist, Gabriele Agrimonti. On October 17th, Agrimonti will perform a virtuoso improvisation, coaxing the most exquisite and powerful sounds from every one of the organ’s 82 stops and nearly 6,400 pipes to heighten the impact of every image on the screen.
