Guided by Music Director Geoffrey Robson, the three youth ensembles—Prelude, Academy, and Youth Orchestra—collaborate in a brilliant showcase that has thrilled audiences for over five decades. With nearly 200 talented musicians from ages 9 to 19 across 37 communities, the ASOYE delivers a rich and varied program: the Prelude Orchestra opens with Elliot Del Borgo’s “Concertino,” Vivaldi’s “Ocean Storm,” Schumann’s “Soldier's March,” and John Caponegro’s “British Grenadiers.” The Academy Orchestra follows with Carl Strommen’s “Cross Creek,” Beethoven’s “Allegretto from Symphony No. 7,” and John Williams’ soaring “Flying Theme” from E.T. Finally, the Youth Orchestra delivers a triumphant collaboration with the ASO, presenting Emmanuel Chabrier’s “España,” Tchaikovsky’s “Romeo and Juliet, Fantasy Overture,” and more.
