In this cinematic concert, Mirabai Ceiba, Megan Gould, Eleanor Norton, and Evan Ziporyn join the MIT Wind Ensemble, MIT Festival Jazz Ensemble, and MIT Concert Choir to premiere Sharifi’s final arrangements—pieces that were close to his heart—while performing some of his most beloved original works. From the award‑winning world‑music album *A Prayer for the Soul of Layla* to memorable film scores for *The Thomas Crown Affair*, *Harriet the Spy*, *Clockstoppers*, and beyond, the program captures the breadth of Sharifi’s creative spirit. A MIT alumnus (Class of 1983) and a lifelong contributor to the campus, Sharifi wrote nearly forty pieces for MIT ensembles over a forty‑five‑year span, including the evocative *Awakening*, *A Resistance, Now*, and the recent premiere of *Praeordinatus Ut Astra Sacrificia Nostra* at MIT’s Artfinity Festival in March 2025.
