On the 86th anniversary of the outbreak of World War II, the Karol Namysłowski Symphony Orchestra invites you to the historic Zamość Rotunda for an evening of profound remembrance and patriotism. Amid the echoes of a city shaped by suffering and memory, the orchestra will perform works that honor victims and celebrate the city’s spiritual resilience. The program begins with Wojciech Kilar’s “Przygrywka chorałowa” (Choral Prelude), followed by the moving “Requiem for Father Kolbe”—a composition created for Krzysztof Zanussi’s 1990 film *A Life for a Life (Życie za życie)* about Maximilian Kolbe—and culminates with Tadeusz Wicherek’s powerful “Epitafium,” which will also be conducted by Wicherek himself. This concert not only commemorates the past but strengthens the bond between the people of Zamość and their history, offering a shared musical tribute to those who endured unimaginable loss.
