53rd annual summer concert

Fresh off a triumphant performance in the finals of the National Concert Band Festival in Manchester, the Croydon Symphonic Band presents its 53rd annual summer concert at Fairfield Halls. The program opens with the beloved “Fantasia on British Sea Songs” from the Last Night of the Proms, followed by the folk‑laden brilliance of Percy Grainger’s signature “English Country Gardens” and the spirited “Padstow Lifeboat” by Malcolm Arnold. Fans will be captivated by Gustav Holst’s “Second Suite in F,” which features the legendary Fantasia on the Dargason and a nostalgic rendition of Greensleeves, and a cinematic highlight with John Williams’s “Dartmoor 1912” from War Horse. As a nod to the Band’s cherished repertoire, Philip Sparke’s “Yorkshire Overture” and the majestic “Hymn of the Highlands” – first performed at the NCBF – will close the evening.
