Zaide Silvia Gutiérrez is a Mexican actress whose career blossomed with the acclaimed 1983 film El Norte, a landmark in Latin American cinema that propelled her onto the international stage. Born on November 2, 1958 in Mexico City, she pursued an intensive academic path, earning a Bachelor of Arts with highest honors in Dramatic Literature and Theater from the National Autonomous University of Mexico. Her scholarly curiosity led her to graduate studies in Theater Directing at Columbia University, as well as deep dives into Russian and Mexican literature, culminating in a double major in Mexican Literature and Film Direction at Columbia. This blend of rigorous intellectual training and practical performance experience forged a versatile artist, equally comfortable on screen, in television’s telenovelas, and behind the stage as a director.
