Tracy S. Letts, an acclaimed American actor, playwright, and screenwriter born in 1965, began his career at the renowned Steppenwolf Theatre before gaining extensive recognition for his Broadway debut as a playwright for August: Osage County in 2007. This outstanding play brought him both the Pulitzer Prize for Drama and the Tony Award for Best Play. Letts is known for his acting prowess and he bagged the Tony Award for Best Actor in a Play for the Broadway revival of the classic Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? in 2013. His incredible works include top-rated plays such as Killer Joe, Bug, Man from Nebraska, Superior Donuts, Linda Vista, and The Minutes. Three of these magnificent plays were adapted into films, two of which were directed by William Friedkin. He has shown his immense talent as a stage actor, performing in several classic plays with the Steppenwolf Theatre since his start in 1988.

Letts is not just a stage actor but also a prominent screen actor. He played Andrew Lockhart in seasons 3 and 4 of Showtime's Homeland and a con-artist in the HBO comedy Divorce. 2017 was a remarkable year for him when he starred in critically acclaimed films like The Lovers, Lady Bird, and The Post. One of his most famous screenplays includes Killer Joe. Other than that, he also wrote Bug and August: Osage County. On a personal note, Tracy was an alcoholic and drug addict in his 20s, turning his life around shortly after he wrote his first play. He married actress Carrie Coon in 2013 and they have two children together.
