What's After the Movie
Rosalyn Landor is an English film, television and stage actress whose career spans more than five decades, beginning when she was only nine years old. Born on 7 October 1958 in Hampstead, London, she is the daughter of actor and radio presenter Neil Landor and an Irish mother, a multicultural heritage that contributed to her versatile artistic sensibility. Educated at the Royal Ballet School in Richmond and later at Tolworth Girls' School in Surbiton, she combined rigorous dance training with early acting opportunities, making her film debut in the Hammer Horror classic The Devil Rides Out (1968). The young Landor quickly became a familiar face in British cinema, portraying Helen Burns in the 1970 adaptation of Jane Eyre and starring in The Amazing Mr. Blunden (1972), while also appearing opposite legends Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor in the television film Divorce His, Divorce Hers (1973). Throughout the 1980s she built a substantial television résumé, giving memorable performances as Allison in Hammer House of Horror, Polly Hampton in Love in a Cold Climate, and Fiona Allways in several episodes of Rumpole of the Bailey, as well as taking on the role of Guinevere in Arthur the King (1985) and the chilling Helen Stoner in Granada’s Sherlock Holmes adaptation. In addition to her screen work, Landor proved her theatrical mettle on the West End stage, sharing the stage with Penelope Keith in Noël Coward’s Hay Fever (1984) and delivering a praised Raina in George Bernard Shaw’s Arms and the Man at Leicester’s Haymarket. After relocating to the U.S. west coast in the late 1980s, she expanded into American television, guest‑starring on Star Trek: The Next Generation, Matlock and Hunter, while also playing a major role in the mini‑series Little Gloria… Happy at Last (1982). Her film work continued with a supporting turn in Bad Influence (1990) opposite Rob Lowe, and she later lent her voice to Disney projects and narrated numerous audiobooks for Random House, demonstrating a sustained commitment to storytelling across media. Today she lives in London with her two daughters, balancing family life with an active career in acting and voice work.
