Rolf de Heer (born 4 May 1951) is a Dutch Australian film director. Born in Heemskerk in the Netherlands, he migrated to Sydney when he was eight years old. Heer attended the Australian Film, Television and Radio School in Sydney, paving the way for his illustrious career in the film industry. His production company, Vertigo Productions, is based in Adelaide and focuses mainly on alternative or arthouse films. De Heer's prominent work includes co-producing and directing the motion picture, Dingo, which is famed as the only film featuring the jazz legend, Miles Davis as an actor. This demonstrates Heer’s versatility and ability to make substantial contributions in the film industry. Heer's 2013 film, Charlie's Country was selected to compete in the Un Certain Regard section at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival. His other notable films include Ten Canoes (2006), The Tracker (2002), Bad Boy Bubby (1993), and Tail of a Tiger (1984). Heer's extensive filmography spanning decades showcases his dedication to the world of cinema.
