Rio Dewanto

Rio Dewanto (born 28 August 1987 in Jakarta, Indonesia) is a prominent Indonesian actor, model, and singer of Javanese descent. He first entered the public eye in 2008, quickly gaining attention for his striking looks and charismatic presence on the runway before transitioning to the silver screen. Dewanto’s film debut came with cameo appearances in Pintu Terlarang (2009) and Ratu Kosmopolitan (2010), where his brief but memorable performances hinted at a deeper acting talent. In 2011, he achieved his breakthrough role as Hendra, also known as Ping Hen, in Hanung Bramantyo’s socially charged drama ? (Question Mark), a film that explored Indonesia’s pluralistic society and earned critical praise for Dewanto’s nuanced portrayal. The following year, he cemented his status as a leading man by playing John Evans in Joko Anwar’s Modus Anomali, a thriller that showcased his capacity for intense, psychologically complex characters. Beyond cinema, Dewanto demonstrated his musical abilities by singing the original soundtrack “Cinta Terlarang” for the sequel Arisan! 2, where he also portrayed the character Octa. His work in these projects earned him the Favorite Supporting Actor award at the 2012 Indonesian Movie Awards, marking his first major industry recognition. He later co‑starred with future wife Atiqah Hasiholan in the cross‑cultural romance Hello Goodbye, filmed partly in South Korea, blending his acting with an international setting. In his personal life, Rio married fellow actress Atiqah Hasiholan in a picturesque ceremony on Pulau Kelor, Kepulauan Seribu, in 2013.
