Remy Hii

Remy Hii (born 24 July 1986) is an Australian actor known for his versatility across television, film, and voice work. Born in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia to a Chinese‑Malaysian father and a British mother, Hii moved to Townsville, Queensland at age eight, where his multicultural background would later inform his choice of roles. He studied at Queensland University of Technology before training at the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) from 2009 to 2011, graduating with a BFA and performing in the indie‑rock group RAPIDS while still a student. Hii’s professional theatre debut came in 2007 with Queensland Theatre Company’s production of The Estimator, a performance that caught the eye of playwright David Brown and led to early television guest spots on East of Everything and H2O: Just Add Water. His breakthrough arrived when he portrayed Van Tuong Nguyen in the SBS miniseries Better Man, earning a 2014 AACTA nomination for Best Lead Actor and a Logie for Most Outstanding Newcomer. In 2013 he joined the long‑running Australian soap Neighbours as Hudson Walsh, a role that introduced him to a broader audience. Internationally, Hii gained recognition as Prince Jingim in Netflix’s Marco Polo and as Alistair Cheng in the hit romantic comedy Crazy Rich Asians. He later appeared as Brad Davis in Marvel’s Spider‑Man: Far From Home and voiced Marcus in the animated series Arcane. Recent projects include the Netflix dramedy Wellmania (2023) and the animated feature The Pout Pout Fish (2024). Always eager to expand his craft, Hii continues to balance screen acting with voice work and stage performances, establishing himself as a dynamic talent in contemporary cinema.
