Regé-Jean Page is a British actor whose breakout performance as the charismatic Duke of Hastings in Netflix’s Bridgerton catapulted him to international stardom. Born on April 27, 1988 in London to an English preacher father and a Zimbabwean nurse mother, he spent part of his childhood in Harare before returning to the UK for secondary school, where he discovered a passion for acting while also studying sound engineering at Northern Technical College. After two years of relentless auditions, he earned a place at the prestigious Drama Centre London, honing his craft alongside stage productions such as The History Boys and The Merchant of Venice. Page’s screen debut arrived in 2001 with the role of Tanaka in the television series Gimme 6, followed by guest spots on Casualty@Holby City, Fresh Meat and a notable appearance on Waterloo Road in 2015. His American breakthrough came with the History Channel’s Roots (2016), where he portrayed Chicken George, and he later secured a supporting role in the Shondaland legal drama For the People (2018‑2019). The actor’s film work includes a cameo in Mortal Engines (2018) and a romantic lead in Sylvie’s Love (2020).
