Red Sternberg

Rodwick Carlin Fong Sternberg, professionally recognized as Red Sternberg, was a distinguished Filipino-German actor and model who became a prominent figure in Philippine entertainment during the 1990s. Born on May 30, 1974, in the Philippines, Sternberg initially balanced his academic pursuits with his burgeoning career, having studied computer science at Adamson University in Manila before fully dedicating himself to show business. He commenced his professional journey in 1990 as a commercial and print ad model, gracing various advertising campaigns before making his pivotal transition to acting in 1995. His major breakthrough arrived when he joined the cast of GMA-7's revolutionary youth-oriented series T.G.I.S. (Thank God It's Saturday), where he portrayed the endearing character Francisco Martin "Kiko" Arboleda de Dios. This iconic role spanned over 200 episodes and catapulted him to nationwide fame, leading to a 1997 spin-off film titled T.G.I.S.: The Movie and establishing him as one of the era's most beloved teen heartthrobs.

Following his television success, Sternberg diversified his portfolio with various film projects including the 1998 thriller Silaw, the comedy It's Cool Bulol, and the 1999 romance My Pledge Of Love, while continuing his television work in series such as Growing Up, Anna Karenina, and his final acting appearance in Sana ay Ikaw na Nga from 2001 to 2003. After retiring from the entertainment industry in the early 2000s, he relocated to the United States where he established a new career as a hotel manager, though he briefly returned to the Philippines in 2004 to pursue politics, running unsuccessfully for councilor of Pasay's second district under the Laban ng Demokratikong Pilipino party with the endorsement of presidential candidate Fernando Poe Jr. In his personal life, he had notable relationships with T.G.I.S. co-stars Rica Peralejo and Kim delos Santos before marrying Sandy in December 2005, with whom he raised three children. Sternberg's life came to a tragic end on May 27, 2025, when he suffered a fatal heart attack in the United States, passing away just three days before his 51st birthday and leaving behind a lasting legacy in Philippine pop culture.
