Raven-Symoné Christina Pearman-Maday, also known as Raven, is an American actress, singer, and director. Born on December 10, 1985, she has received several accolades, including five NAACP Image Awards, two Kids' Choice Awards, three Young Artist Awards, and four Emmy Award nominations. In 2012, she was included on VH1's list of '100 Greatest Child Stars of All Time'. Her career began as a child actress, appearing on The Cosby Show and Hangin' with Mr. Cooper, which earned her numerous awards and nominations. At age 15, she landed the lead role on Disney's That's So Raven, reprising it for the spin-off series Raven's Home. Her film credits include Dr. Dolittle, The Princess Diaries 2, College Road Trip, and Mighty Oak. She has also voiced characters in Kim Possible and Tinker Bell and directed episodes of several series. As a singer, Raven-Symoné released her debut studio album, Here's to New Dreams, at age seven and had subsequent studio albums with commercial success. She contributed vocals to soundtracks from her Disney projects and co-hosted the ABC talk show The View from 2015 to 2016. She has continued to act and produce into her adulthood, with her most recent endeavor being a spin-off of Raven's Home titled Alice in the Palace, set to premiere in 2025.
Born in Atlanta, Georgia, to Lydia Gaulden and Christopher Pearman, she moved with her family to Ossining, New York, at age three. Starting her career as an infant working for Atlanta's Young Faces Inc. modelling agency, she appeared in print advertisements and commercials before getting her breakout role on The Cosby Show. Raven-Symoné's music career began at age seven, with the release of her debut album, Here's to New Dreams, which included the moderately successful single That's What Little Girls Are Made Of. She went on to release other albums, contribute to Disney soundtracks, and tour as an opening act for 'N Sync. She balanced a successful acting and singing career in both television and film. She took a break from acting to attend Academy of Art University, earning an associate degree in fine arts in 2016, but returned to television a year before graduation to co-host The View.
