Rachel Melvin

Rachel Melvin, born February 9, 1985, is an American actress recognized for her notable roles in the film and television industry. She rose to fame with her roles as Chelsea Brady on 'Days of Our Lives' (2005–2009) and as Penny in 'Dumb and Dumber To'. Melvin was born in Elmhurst, Illinois but moved to Phoenix, Arizona at the age of four where she was raised. Post her high school graduation from Mountain Pointe High School in 2003, she passed up a full college scholarship to move to California to pursue acting. In Los Angeles, she honed her acting skills by attending weekend classes. Melvin's illustrious acting career kickstarted with her first film, a 2005 independent film 'Boo'. She made appearances on NBC soap opera 'Days of Our Lives', 'The Tonight Show with Jay Leno', 'Summerland', 'Jack & Bobby' and '8 Simple Rules'. She advanced her acting journey starring as Kaia in 'Seven Deadly Sins' and making appearances in 'House M.D.' and 'Castle'. In 2014, she starred in 'Dumb and Dumber To', 'Zombeavers', and the drama thriller 'Madtown'. She also had a role in the final season of MTV's 'Awkward' and reprised her role as Chelsea Brady in 2023. Melvin currently resides in Los Angeles and she cites Meryl Streep, Mary-Louise Parker, Anne Hathaway, Cynthia Nixon and Toni Collette as her idols.
