Nick Mohammed

Nick Mohammed (born Nicholas George Mohammed on 2 October 1980) is a British actor, comedian and writer whose career bridges academia and the entertainment world. Born in Leeds, England to a Cypriot‑born general‑practitioner mother and a Trinidad‑born father who worked in law, he grew up immersed in a multicultural household that later informed his comedic sensibility. After attending Abbey Grange High School, he rejected an offer to study at Cambridge and instead earned a BSc in Geophysics at Durham University, where he was a member of St Aidan’s College, played violin in the university orchestra, and unsuccessfully auditioned for the Durham Revue. Post‑graduation he began a PhD in seismology at Cambridge’s Bullard Laboratories and Magdalene College, but left the programme to pursue comedy, eventually joining the famed Cambridge Footlights where he honed his performance craft. In 2006 he launched his professional career, creating the eccentric magician Mr Swallow, a character modeled on an English teacher’s high‑pitched voice, which would become a recurring persona across radio, television and live tours. Mohammed’s early television work included appearances on Reggie Perrin, The King Is Dead, and various guest spots on BBC comedies, while his radio series such as Nick Mohammed in Bits and Detective Sergeant Nick Mohammed solidified his reputation as a versatile writer‑performer.

From 2018 onward, Mohammed’s profile rose dramatically: he voiced Piglet in Disney’s Christopher Robin, co‑created the Sky One series Intelligence with David Schwimmer, and delivered a breakout performance as Nathan “Nate” Shelley in Apple TV+’s critically acclaimed Ted Lasso, earning Emmy nominations in both its second and third seasons. His stage work includes the West End production A Christmas Carol (ish), featuring Mr Swallow as the protagonist, and a UK tour of Show Pony extending into 2026. In film, he appeared in Maggie Moore(s) (2023) and the action‑comedy Deep Cover (2025). Off‑screen, he married Becca Mohammed in 2014, with whom he has three children, and resides in Richmond, London. Known for his quick wit and musical talent, Mohammed continues to blend academic intellect with irreverent humor across multiple media.
