Nanoka Hara

Nanoka Hara (原 菜乃華, born August 26, 2003) is a Japanese actress who emerged from Tokyo’s vibrant entertainment scene. She first entered the industry after winning the J‑beans Net Scout Audition in 2009, when she was just six years old, and quickly transitioned from child roles in productions such as Kaiken (2016), the children’s TV program Oha Suta (2016), and the short film Opening Night (2017) to more substantive parts. Her early work demonstrated a precocious ability to convey nuanced emotion, a talent that caught the attention of directors and casting agents alike. In 2022, Hara achieved a major breakthrough when she was selected from a pool of over 1,700 candidates to voice Suzume Iwato, the titular heroine of Makoto Shinkai’s critically acclaimed animated feature Suzume. This role not only marked her debut as a voice actress but also positioned her as a rising star in the anime community, earning her widespread praise for capturing the character’s blend of vulnerability and resilience. The performance contributed to the film’s global success and solidified Hara’s reputation as a versatile performer capable of bridging live‑action and voice‑over disciplines.

Following her landmark voice‑acting debut, Hara continued to expand her portfolio with prominent on‑screen roles. In 2023 she portrayed Mizuho Nanba in the drama adaptation Born to Be On Air! and took on the part of Shioji Kariatsumari in the cinematic adaptation of Don’t Call It Mystery, both released the same year. Her rising prominence was recognized at the 18th Seiyu Awards, where she received the Best New Actor Award in March 2024. In addition to her acting achievements, Hara ventured into publishing with the release of her first photobook Hana no Iro on October 30, 2023, and secured a role in the NHK taiga drama What Will You Do, Ieyasu?, portraying the historic figure Senhime.
