Nadeshda Brennicke

Nadeshda Brennicke (born Nadeshda Therésa Richter on 21 April 1973) is a German actress, singer, and author whose career has spanned over three decades. Raised in Munich as the adoptive daughter of the well‑known TV and voice‑over actor Michael Brennicke and an art‑dealer mother, she left formal schooling at the age of fifteen to pursue acting, moving out of her parents’ home to chase her ambitions. After attending the Zinner Studio (now the International School for Performance and Acting) from 1989 to 1991, she co‑founded the pop duo Charade in 1992, scoring modest chart success with singles such as “All of You” and “The Colour of Your Eyes”. Her breakout film role came in the comedy Manta – Der Film, where she played Tina, and she later gained considerable television fame as investigator Tessa Norman in The Streets of Berlin.

Beyond acting, Brennicke has cultivated a parallel music career, writing and performing her own songs, and contributing vocals to episodes of Polizeiruf 110 and the film Antibodies. She is also a published author, adding yet another facet to her artistic portfolio. In her personal life, she raised her son Nikita, born in 1997, as a single mother and lived on a Brandenburg farm from 2007 to 2020, where she tended Arabian thoroughbreds, oriental cats, and a Great Dane. Although she was in a two‑year relationship with Vietnamese cameraman Ngô Thế Châu (2012‑2014), she has not married. Brennicke’s talent has been recognised with accolades such as the Adolf‑Grimme‑Preis (2001) and a Silver Hugo for Best Actress at the Chicago International Film Festival (2013) for her role in Banklady.
