Miriam Ruth Shor (born July 25, 1971 in Minneapolis, Minnesota) is an American actress whose career has spanned stage, film, and television for over three decades. After graduating with a BFA in drama from the University of Michigan, she moved to New York City where she quickly became known for her magnetic performance in the Off‑Broadway rock musical Hedwig and the Angry Ink, a role she later reprised in the 2001 film adaptation, earning critical praise for her blend of comedic timing and emotional depth. Shor’s early screen work includes a brief stint on the sitcom Then Came You (2000) and supporting roles in Harold Ramis’s remake Bedazzled (2000) and The Cake Eaters (2007), demonstrating her versatility across genres. She continued to build a robust television résumé with parts in short‑lived series such as Inside Schwartz, Swingtown, and GCB, while also guest‑starring on well‑known dramas like The West Wing, Damages, and Law & Order: Criminal Intent. From 2015 to 2021, Shor achieved widespread recognition as Diana Trout on TV Land’s comedy‑drama Younger, a performance that earned her a Critics’ Choice Television Award nomination and even a directing credit on the series in 2018. In the theater world she returned to the stage in 2015 as Madelaine True in the Encores! production of The Wild Party at New York City Center, sharing the spotlight with fellow Younger star Sutton Foster. More recent film work includes roles in Lost Girls (2020), Bradley Cooper’s biopic Maestro (2023), and a cameo as Recorder Vim in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, while she remains slated for a potential appearance in James Gunn’s upcoming Superman (2025).
