Mikel Losada

Mikel Losada García (born 28 December 1978 in Ermua, Basque Country, Spain) is a Spanish film, theatre and television actor renowned for his prolific career across more than a hundred audiovisual and stage productions. He began his artistic journey at the age of sixteen, gaining early experience in both theatrical and screen projects before joining Ramón Barea's theatre company at eighteen, a mentorship that would shape his craft for decades. A graduate of the Juan de Antxieta Musical Studies and Performing Arts Center in Bilbao, Losada studied under notable mentors such as Ramón Barea, Felipe Loza and Itziar Lazkano, honing a versatile technique that allows him to move seamlessly between intense drama and subtle comedy. Throughout the 1990s and 2000s he accumulated credits in popular regional series such as Goenkale and Cuéntame cómo pasó, while also building a reputation in cinema with roles in The Invisible Guardian (2016) and Txarriboda (2015). His breakthrough on the international stage arrived with the critically acclaimed Ane Is Missing (2020), which earned five Goya nominations and secured three wins, and later with Netflix productions Intimacy (2022) and Muted (2023). In theatre, Losada has repeatedly collaborated with the Arriaga Theatre, starring in classics such as The Seagull (2015) and The Glass Menagerie (2025), performances that earned him the Urregin Award for Best Actor in 2021. He has been nominated three times for the Best Basque Actor Award at the Union of Basque Actors and Actresses Awards, winning the Best Television Actor prize in 2001. Beyond the spotlight, Losada co‑founded the cultural initiative Pabellón Nº 6, resides in Bilbao, and shares a partnership with actress Olatz Ganboa, with whom he has a child and a beloved border collie named Kea. His continuous collaboration with director Ana Murugarren, appearing in all her films to date, underscores his status as a central figure in contemporary Spanish‑Basque cinema.
