Michael Kevin Pollan (born February 6, 1955) is an American author, journalist, and professor whose work has reshaped public conversation about food, agriculture, and psychedelics. Raised in a Jewish family on Long Island, New York, he is the son of author‑consultant Stephen Pollan and columnist Corky Pollan, and he earned a B.A. in English from Bennington College in 1977 followed by an M.A. from Columbia University in 1981 after a period of study at Mansfield College, Oxford.
