Max Carver

Max Carver (born Robert Maxwell Martensen Jr. on August 1, 1988) is an American actor, director, and writer who first captured public attention through his twin synergy with brother Charlie Carver in several high‑profile television series. Born in San Francisco, California, he grew up alongside his identical twin, Charles, who arrived seven minutes earlier, and was raised in a family that valued both intellectual pursuit and community service—his father, the late Dr. Robert Martensen, was a physician, historian, and author, while his mother, Anne Carver, is a noted philanthropist and activist. After a brief childhood move to the Napa Valley town of Calistoga, Max attended St. Paul’s School in New Hampshire, graduating in 2007, and later earned a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Southern California in 2012, a background that informs his work behind the camera as a writer and director. His professional debut came in 2008 when he and Charlie were cast as the Scavo twins—Preston and Porter—on the ABC hit Desperate Housewives, a role that launched a decade‑long presence on network television.
