Matilda De Angelis

Matilda De Angelis (born 11 September 1995 in Bologna, Emilia‑Romagna) is an Italian actress and singer whose career has rapidly evolved from a teenage musician to a celebrated film and television talent. She began learning guitar and violin at thirteen and attended the liceo scientifico “Enrico Fermi.” In 2011 she co‑founded the band Rumba de Bodas, releasing the album Karnaval Fou in 2014, and simultaneously explored solo projects that showcased her versatile vocal style. Her breakthrough came when director Matteo Rovere discovered her on Facebook and cast her in the lead role of Italian Race (2016), a performance that earned her a David di Donatello nomination for Best Actress and a Flaiano Prize for Best Newcomer. De Angelis also wrote and performed the film’s song “Seventeen,” garnering a nomination for Best Original Song. The following year she appeared in The Prize and the controversial drama Youtopia, proving her capacity for both comedy and intense dramatic roles. Her rising profile was cemented with award‑winning performances in Rose Island (2020), for which she received the David di Donatello for Best Supporting Actress, and a prominent part in HBO’s critically acclaimed miniseries The Undoing.
