Marisa Allasio

Maria Luisa Lucia Allasio, known professionally as Marisa Allasio, was born on July 14, 1936, in Turin, within the Kingdom of Italy. Rising to prominence during the golden age of Italian cinema in the 1950s, Allasio established herself as one of the most recognizable faces of the economic miracle era, embodying the quintessential Italian sex symbol with her striking beauty and charismatic screen presence. Between 1952 and 1958, she built an impressive filmography comprising nearly twenty films, working with some of the most celebrated directors of the period including Mario Camerini, Luigi Capuano, Dino Risi, and Franco Zeffirelli. Her performances in notable productions such as War and Peace (1956) directed by King Vidor, where she appeared alongside Hollywood stars, and Poor, But Handsome (1957) showcased her versatility and charm. Other significant works include Marisa la civetta (1957), a film that bore her name and highlighted her appeal, Venice, the Moon and You (1958), and Sunday Heroes (1953), demonstrating her range across various genres from historical epics to romantic comedies.

At the absolute height of her cinematic fame and popularity, Allasio made the deliberate decision to abandon her acting career in 1958, choosing instead to embrace a life of nobility and family. That same year, she married Count Pier Francesco Calvi di Bergolo, who belonged to the prestigious House of Savoy as the son of Princess Iolanda di Savoia and grandson of King Vittorio Emanuele III and Queen Elena del Montenegro. This union elevated her to the title of Countess of Bergolo, marking a dramatic transition from silver screen stardom to aristocratic duties. The couple welcomed two children: Count Carlo of Bergolo, born in Rome in 1959, and Countess Anda of Bergolo, born in the eternal city in 1962. Allasio remained devoted to her family and her status within Italian nobility until the Count's death in 2012, leaving behind a legacy that bridges the glamorous world of 1950s Italian cinema and the country's aristocratic traditions.
