Maggie Lawson

Maggie Lawson, born Margaret Cassidy Lawson on August 12, 1980, in Louisville, Kentucky, began performing onstage at the age of eight, quickly developing a passion for the craft that would shape her future. After honing her talents in community and dinner‑theater productions, she landed a youth television hosting gig on WDRB Fox 41 Kid's Club, a role that gave her early exposure to cameras and live audiences. At fifteen she moved to Los Angeles to audition for her first television pilot, opening the door to a string of guest‑starring appearances on popular sitcoms such as Cybill, Boy Meets World and Home Improvement. Throughout the early 2000s she expanded her résumé with roles in series like Smallville and Fear Itself, while also co‑starring in sitcoms It's All Relative and Crumbs. Her film work during this period included a double role in Disney Channel's Model Behavior alongside Justin Timberlake, the titular part in the 2002 feature Nancy Drew, and supporting turns in Pleasantville, The Nice Guys, Sleep Alone, and Cleaner. In 2006 Lawson secured the role that would define her career, portraying Detective Juliet “Jules” O’Hara on the USA Network hit Psych. Over eight seasons she became a fan favorite, later reprising the character in three follow‑up movies released between 2017 and 2021. Following Psych, she headlined the ABC sitcom Back in the Game (2013) and appeared in pilots such as Save the Date (CBS, 2014) and Angel from Hell (CBS, 2016). Her television presence continued with recurring parts on Two and a Half Men, The Great Indoors, Netflix’s The Ranch, and the horror‑comedy series Santa Clarita Diet. Lawson also embraced the Hallmark Channel, starring in holiday and romantic movies like My Favorite Wedding (2017) and Christmas in Evergreen: Tidings of Joy (2019). On the small screen she played Dr. Natalie Flynn in the final season of Fox’s Lethal Weapon and appeared in the Hulu anthology Into the Dark. Off‑camera, Lawson’s personal life included a long‑term partnership with James Roday Rodriguez during the run of Psych and a brief marriage to actor Ben Koldyke (2015–2017). Despite filing for divorce, she remains active in television, film, and stage, consistently delivering performances marked by wit, charm, and a strong screen presence.
