Maggie Civantos

Maggie Civantos (born 28 December 1984) is a Spanish actress whose career has spanned television, film, and emerging work as a director. She was born in Málaga, Andalusia, to a singer mother and a sound‑technician father, and was named after the character Maggie Gioberti from Falcon Crest, reflecting her family's early love of media. After completing her studies at the Escuela Superior de Arte Dramático de Málaga, she entered the Spanish television scene, initially appearing in series such as Escenas de matrimonio, Hospital Central and Yo soy Bea. In 2008 she landed a starring role in the Antena 3 comedy Eva y kolegas and later portrayed Angélica in the long‑running Canal Sur drama Arrayán. Her first major breakthrough came in 2014 with the role of Fanny in Bienvenidos al Lolita, which led to her casting as the relentless Macarena Ferreiro in the critically acclaimed prison drama Vis a vis (known internationally as Locked Up). The series showcased her intense performance and earned her a dedicated fan base across Europe and Latin America. Building on that success, she joined the cast of Netflix’s first Spanish original Las chicas del cable (Cable Girls) in 2017, playing the ambitious Ángeles Vidal. Subsequent projects include the thriller Malaka, the crime drama Express, and the spin‑off Vis a vis: El oasis where she reprised her iconic role alongside Najwa Nimri. In addition to acting, Civantos co‑founded the production company Bastardas Films, which co‑produced the feature Stories. Her performances have been recognized with nominations at the Feroz Awards, the Unión de Actores Awards, and a Fotogramas de Plata win, underscoring her critical acclaim. As of May 2025 she began shooting her directorial debut El retorno de Júpiter, a film she also wrote and produced, signaling a new chapter in her multifaceted career.
