Luc Bernard is a French‑Jewish game designer renowned for blending interactive entertainment with profound historical education. Born on 26 March 1986, Bernard spent his early childhood under the care of his maternally Jewish grandmother in England before relocating to France at the age of ten, an experience that deeply informed his bicultural identity and later work. From an early age he displayed a keen interest in storytelling through digital media, eventually channeling this passion into the creation of games that confront difficult subjects such as the Holocaust, Jewish diaspora, and anti‑racist activism. His first known title, the platformer Eternity’s Child, marked the beginning of a prolific career that would see him develop titles like Death Tales, Mecho Wars, and the satirical Kitten Squad for PETA in 2016. Bernard’s most celebrated projects are overtly educational: the Fortnite Holocaust Museum placed a virtual exhibition inside a mainstream battle‑royale game, allowing millions of players to encounter curated displays of Nazi atrocities; The Light in the Darkness (2023) offered a free, narrative‑driven exploration of a Polish‑Jewish family’s ordeal in Vichy France, intertwining gameplay with archival material.
