Lisa Robin Kelly

Lisa Robin Kelly (born March 5, 1970 in Southington, Connecticut) was an American actress whose career spanned two decades, most famously remembered for her role as Laurie Forman on the cult classic television series That '70s Show. Raised in both Connecticut and Mooresville, North Carolina, she was the daughter of Thomas Carl Kelly and Linda Diane (née Grimm) Kelly, and cultivated an early passion for performance that led her to earn a BFA in acting from The Theatre School at DePaul University in Chicago in 1992. Kelly made an early television debut that same year in a Married… with Children episode titled “Kelly Doesn’t Live Here Anymore,” and subsequently appeared in a range of popular shows including Silk Stalkings, the third‑season X‑Files episode “Syzygy,” and Charmed in 1999, while also taking on roles in direct‑to‑video releases such as Amityville Dollhouse and the theatrical film Jawbreaker. Her portrayal of Laurie Forman, the tumultuous older sister of Eric Forman, became a defining part of her career, though she left the series abruptly during its third season, only to return briefly in later seasons before being permanently replaced by Christina Moore after she was dismissed amid escalating personal struggles. Beginning around 2001, Kelly’s battle with alcohol and drug abuse intensified, leading to frequent absences from set, legal troubles—including a 2010 DUI charge and a 2012 arrest on a felony allegation of corporal injury to a spouse—and a pronounced decline in acting opportunities, with her final screen appearance in the short drama SUX2BME in 2012. On August 15, 2013, while staying at the Pax Rehab House in Altadena, California, Kelly died in her sleep at age 43; the Los Angeles Coroner later ruled her death an accidental “multiple drug intoxication.” Despite a career cut short by personal demons, Kelly’s early work and memorable performance on That '70s Show continue to leave a lasting impression on fans of 1990s and early‑2000s television.
