Lennart Hjulström

Lennart Hjalmar Hjulström (born 18 July 1938 in Karlstad, Sweden) was a renowned Swedish actor and film director whose career spanned over three decades. He began his professional journey in the mid‑1980s, quickly establishing himself as a versatile performer capable of shifting seamlessly between stage, television, and cinema. His early work as a director on the 1983 film “Berget på månens baksida” demonstrated a keen eye for storytelling, a talent that would complement his subsequent acting roles. Throughout the 1990s and 2000s, Hjulström appeared in a wide range of productions, from the acclaimed drama “My Life as a Dog” (1986) where he played the enigmatic artist, to the gritty television series “Beck,” delivering a memorable performance as Gavling. His collaboration with prominent Swedish directors on projects such as “The Best Intentions” (1992) and “The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets’ Nest” (2009) solidified his reputation as a reliable character actor capable of embodying authority figures, policemen, and patriarchs alike.
